Somers Orchard, Portsmouth

Lewis Hubbard Engineering provided civil engineering design and structural engineering advisory services for the Somers Orchard regeneration scheme in Portsmouth. The proposals seek to deliver over 500 new homes, retail and community facilities and an adaptable mix of employment space alongside vast improvements to the public realm and streetscape.

We have developed proposals for new streets that create a welcoming environment for walking and cycling, introduced rain gardens to help manage surface water flood risk and coordinated the utility infrastructure needed to serve the development.

Alongside our infrastructure design, our structural engineering work has focussed on strategic early input, maximising opportunities for modern methods of construction, reducing building weights, embodied carbon, and re-use of existing assets.
