LHE were pleased to support Basildon Borough Council in developing their ambitious plans for the regeneration of the Westgate area of Basildon town centre. Working alongside Karakusevic Carson Architects and HAT Projects, we provided civil and structural engineering services to support the submission of a detailed planning application for Basildon Westgate, Phase 1 - a major first step in the revitalisation of this area.

The scheme comprises two new buildings – 97 residential apartments for affordable rent, and a new landmark 95-bedroom hotel – alongside extensive landscape and public realm improvements, car and cycle parking, flexible ground floor commercial space and two publicly accessible bars.

The application is underpinned by a place-led masterplan vision which aims to provide a framework for the delivery of new, high-quality homes to meet council demand, an enhanced cultural and leisure offer, accessible public spaces and employment opportunities over the next 20 years.
